Miuccia Prada MILAN, Mar 15, 2004/ FW/ --- If Miuccia Prada was in a starship at warp speed for Prada, her feet was firmly planted on earth for Miu Miu. Quilted fabric, distressed leather, fur and snakeskin, it was Mother Nature presented at her best.

Miu Miu is Prada’s diffusion line, less expensive than its bigger sister Prada, but definitely not lacking in style. And most of all, it has its own identity, thanks to Miuccia Prada’s creativity and inventiveness.

Serge Weinberg might have said, “Nobody talks about Miuccia Prada,” and I beg to differ in opinion with the new boss of Gucci. Miuccia Prada was voted by the Wall Street Journal as one of the Top 10 most powerful woman in business in the world during the last decade.

So, people talk about Miuccia Prada, the Wall Street does, and so doe the rest of the fashion world. Her personality is ingrained in all her creations, and so does her genius.

The Fall 2004 Miu Miu collection is a great example of how Miuccia Prada can change gear without even batting an eyelash and come out with a winner.

Using earthy tones of browns, greens and dull flashes of bronze, copper, and antique gold, Miuccia Prada sent out crumpled leather jackets that looked lived in, but not something from the vintage shops.

The look was 1940s with the empire waists, wide lapels and big buttons on the jackets. The short cropped jackets and the A-line skirts look like something from our grandmother’s closet. But instead of looking stale, the whole collection looked fresh and contemporary, thanks to Miuccia Prada’s great styling prowess.

Platform heels, brocade pumps and suede strappy sandals together with beaded and jeweled handbags gave the collection an old-world appeal.

Miuccia Prada is in a roll this season, coming out with two winning collections in a span of one week.

So, how can we not talk about Miuccia Prada at all?
