MILAN, Feb 21, 2006/ FW/ --- Hip-hop music accompanied with a video of lush trees projected on the background made way for the asphalt jungle of the college campus as university coeds walked the runway that is aptly colored black.

But don’t expect the ‘Legally Blonde’ Reese Witherspoon’s Elle’s signature pink color here; it’s somber shades of black and gray with silver and animal prints to spice it up. It’s not for the cute and girly sorority girls. It’s for the strong non-Greek lettered Amazons who also happened to be college coeds.

Parkas cinched at the waist with thin belts, paired with bias cut skirts that reach just above the ankles, oversized hooded sweatshirts with oversized pockets, and micro fiber raincoats with fur on pockets and at the back, put there for both function (to keep you warm) and for decoration are the main fare for outerwear.

There’s also the parka trench coat with its skirts divided into gores and godets for ease in walking, and of course the animal prints and regular fur coats guaranteed to turn heads while in campus.

Understanding the college kids preoccupation with motorbikes and mopeds, the fur covered motorcycle helmet that was seen during menswear became part of this collection too.

And when the Prada coed takes off her coat, that’s when she shows her true colors – a sexy kitten that does not meow but roars. Bustier tube tops that curve the waist, a banded bra worn over knitted sweaters and corset tops that reach just above the thigh line that is sheered at the waist for an Amazonian look.

Paired walking shorts cuffed at the hem, smocked skirts and slouchy pants, there’s a punk aura created. But since all the models are wearing their natural tresses, the punk is just a feeling as if it was never there.
