Prada MILAN, Jan 19, 2005/ FW/ --- If the White House is as far away from the catwalk as the next galaxy, Silicon Valley is in hyperspace, probably about a hundred light years away. But the neo-conservatism of the techies graced the Prada runway last Monday.

Of course, Miuccia Prada had glorified the Information Technology denizens before, complete with computer accessories and little robots. But for Fall 2005, the most influential woman designer decided to go without the hardware and concentrated on the “soft wear.”

Double-breasted traditional overcoats, six-button pea coats with wide lapel and hooded windbreakers were matched with ski caps and horn-rimmed glasses that spell out GEEK in more ways than one.

Sticking to a very slim silhouette, Miuccia Prada’s conservative take on menswear is very at home with the neoconservatives. But there is an undertone of being rebellious too, not the James Dean kind, but just being anti-establishment that is always present among the youth.

Yet, Prada’s geeks fit within the framework, a paradox of the technology world that Miuccia was able to interpret wisely on the runway.

"It's time to put the avant-garde behind, and analyze what men really want from fashion," the designer told reporters after her show, adding that “men are conservative at heart,” as an explanation from her departure from her groundbreaking looks.

And the verdict on this collection? Miuccia Prada has proven once again that she is constantly a force to be reckoned with in the fashion world with this very tight and very wearable collection.
