Prada MILAN, Jan 18, 2006/ FW/ --- The cover of next week’s Newsweek Magazine proclaims ‘The Boy Crisis’ citing the underachievement of males under the minority age in America. But, if Miuccia Prada has her way, the boy crisis will not exist because she wants them to be the new urban conquerors.

Opening with the classic suit, paired with lean trousers cut short and open cuffed at the hem set the tone of the collection as the new revolution for men dawns.

If Helen Reddy during the 1960s crooned, ‘I am woman hear me roar,’ the runway silently proclaimed ‘I am a young man to be reckoned with,’ as models strutted in motorbike helmets covered with badger fur.

Are they the new Vikings of the 21st century? Perhaps… Are they the metro males? Definitely, as each model carried briefcases, laptop carriers, even notebook covers decorated with a horse head.

But before you begin thinking of the accepted vision of an urban cowboy, think again, because they are far from that. Rather, these new urban cowboys will conquer with their brains instead of their brawns.

Because, isn’t it that it was Miuccia Prada who dressed the denizens of Silicon Valley several seasons ago. Well, these geeks are no longer the bespectacled nerds, but rather Type A personality guys from every or any metropolitan area in the world.

Quilted leather shirts and jackets, oversized sweaters and cardigans, thin ties and rounded shouldered suits were delight to see and truly the new statement for a young man out to conquer the globe.
