MILAN, Jan 17, 2007/ FW/ --- The collection that Miuccia Prada showed Monday would have brought smiles to the faces of the Sci-fi channel fans because finally, their world is now being seen on the runway.
For those who do not follow the adventures of StarGate: SG1 or its spin-off StarGate: Atlantis, you will be surprised to know that both series is set TODAY, the current world we live in.
Still, the green mohair sweaters with the curvy stripes or the sleeveless tunics made from animal skin paired with blotchy tip shoes can easily be the native costumes of ‘aliens’ that look so much like earthlings.
It’s not to say that what was presented had been seen in any of the episodes. In fact, the costume design of the long running TV series is so different from the Prada Fall 2007 collection. It’s just that it is so easy to imagine these clothes being worn in the television show.
That said, it is now time to mention that the other half of the collection is signature minimalist Prada with its sharp clean lines and graphic shapes. Two-tone trench coats that is beige from the neck to the just below to the shoulder, then dramatically becomes black all the way down to the hem is very sporty and urbane.
Suit jackets have rounded shoulders and tight fitting while trousers are generally slim. And with all the mohair and animal skin featured, let’s just say that the Prada man will never cold next winter.
