PARIS, Jan 27, 2007/ FW/ --- Just a week after presenting a very well received Fall 2007 collection for Jil Sander in Milan, Raf Simons does it again here in Paris for his eponymous line once again showing his innovative approach to menswear and his mastery of proportions.

In an almost all-black collection interspersed with varying shades of gray, Raf Simons vision for Fall 2007 is ultra modern, sleek and fitting for the 21st century man.

Using leather, lustrous fabric and high tech textile as his canvas, Raf Simons created slim fitting trousers that do not constrict movement, snug-fitting jackets with rounded shoulders and shirts & sweaters that emphasized the male torso.

The focus is the hand, with all the models wearing gloves, gauntlets and arm warmers usually made of leather. Perhaps they are the equivalent of the 21st century warriors, not in terms of war but more on the ‘road warrior’ variety, the high tech workers that circumnavigate the globe either virtually or in reality.

Ties are optional, while shirts and suits are tone-on-tone differentiated by texture. Standout include the dual colored suit, wherein it looked like there were two suits to begin with and both were cut with a razor right at the waistline all through the arms, then put together as one.

Trench coats were cut wide and featured standing collars, the details were two elongated ovals that also worked as pockets. Windbreakers in leather and neoprene can pass for Formula 1 racing.

The week is still early, but this collection will definitely be included as one of the best for the season.
