Los Angeles, Apr 15, 2002/ FWD/ --- Who says the West Coast does not know good style?
Richard Tyler's “tyler” line debuted Friday night in Culver City and had women and men
alike panting for the Debbie Harry meets Annie Hall-esque fall fashions.
Classic fall colors like charcoal and camel mixed with bright corals and plums created
a sophisticated, sexy and definitely wearable line.
A cloud blue chiffon top paired with washed denim jeans had the audience clapping,
saluting the gathered, see-through style that seemed effortlessly sexy.
The see-through top style popped up several times, from black silk chiffon to white
stretch cotton.
A beautiful camel corduroy jacket over a matching skirt took a mod approach to last
year's hot equestrian look, while leather trim across midriffs and hips was a nice
addition to many pieces.
A red leather zip jacket over a silk organza T-shirt took a sleek, well-tailored twist
on the still-present '80s look, but the brick-colored pants that completed the outfit
were a little long for the model, who somehow managed not to trip over herself.
Pointy red leather boots accented many of the darker tones, and the floral silk chiffon
dress and its blouse version brought a soft femininity to the mostly straight-lined,
tough looks of many pant-and-shirt combos.
Many skirts and dresses featured metal clasps rather than zippers or buttons, which
paired nicely with the dark colors.
A blush blue wool jersey turtleneck reminded all that turtlenecks can be sexy, with
just a simple satin ribbon cascading from one shoulder.
A camel suede blazer with nothing underneath gave new meaning to the see-through theme.
Overall, Tyler seemed to have one thing to say: it's all in the details.
