The Color of Money
By: Boyd Davis

In haute couture, clothes can cost as much as $10,000.

In fact, a Chanel outfit designed by Karl Lagerfeld for Mrs. Miller (yes, the mother of Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece) cost around $80,000.

Russell Sage was not aspiring for that one.

He just wanted to see how a dress worth $10,000 would look like if it was made with real money.

And he did!

Sponsored by mortgage lender Brittanic Money, who lent him real money, (as in crisp paper money) to do just that - create a dress made of real money.

The designer came up with a dress with pin-wheel print, the pin wheels made up of legal tender notes.

The "money dress" might be the star of the show, but it was a very strong and elegant collection overall.

As expected, Russell Sage mixed antique fabrics with the modern high performance variety of today.

The designer named his show aptly with "Russell Sage is History" with the recycling of those precious fabrics.
