MILAN, Feb 27, 2005/ FW/ --- Silver screen goddess looks for the contemporary woman, elegant in their mid-calf fur coats, beautiful and taut in their antelope baby fur skirts, the Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2005 collection brings a new spirit to classic silhouettes.
Inspired by the Palazzo Spini Feroni, the headquarters of Salvatore Ferragamo in Florence, Graeme Black translated architectural lines into powerfully feminine shapes on the runway.
Slim and curvilinear, turning geometric at times, it’s all about complexity made to look simple like the body-hugging skirts flaring into intricate godets. Details are the key – rounded shoulders, collars that gracefully end into the plackets, fur trims, delicate lace and tiny buttons.
The twin set was reinvented, making it more modern, while keeping its traditional look. It’s sexier! Imagine Beyoncé Knowles as junior leaguer wearing tiered ruffled skirts paired with snug-fitting cashmere cardigans in solid colors or prints.
Eveningwear turned metallic as in the one shoulder top with dolman sleeves trimmed with lace, knitted cashmere with very deep V-necklines paired with a floor length skirt embellished with Swarovski crystals.
And as always, the accessories are impeccable. Ankle boots with intricate late, the signature Ferragamo sculptural wedge made with Lucite heel and metallic kid ankle straps.
Understanding the changing demographics of the times, Graeme Black had stayed with Salvatore Ferragamo’s winning formula and added modern twists to it, ensuring that the current clientele will be more than happy and still gain new fans with the new market force, the echo boomers.
