Salvatore Ferragamo: Ferragamo Attracts A New Generational Man of Leisure
By Randal Jacobs

icon MILAN, Jul 9, 2004/ FW/ --- In this day and age, people do not travel well. What happen to the day when men actually wore suits in first class? I must always be in pearls and pumps before take-off because my mother trained me well.

Words cannot express the joy in my heart for what Salvatore Ferragamo is doing for a new generation. Their spring/summer 2005 collection is based on a real globetrotter who yachts across seas discovering new places while gliding into the Mediterranean.

Dark tones digressions in browns, ivory, greys and blues exalt distinguish lines and designs. These tenebrous blends are sculpted onto pinstripe, super-fine wools on distinctively cut suits. Ties respond by being constructed of silk in vibrant orange and emerald green hues with gold backgrounds.

While the Feragamo male is dressed dimly by night, he travels by day in white linen trousers, Panama cotton blazers in degrees of cream, pink and light blue tending to grey. Yacht and Americana Navy elated looks focuses on striped shirts, flare leg pants layered and topped with protocol blue double-breasted gold button captain blazers.

By implementing t-shirts, trainers, silk vests and brightly coloured suede shirts and trousers, this classic house will gain a new customer while sustaining their core market. Innovation in design allowed for fringe on pants and a looser fit in many of the pieces. Sticking closely to their roots, great handbags in canvas and fine grain leathers worked well with custom made exclusive driving shoes.

The Ferragamo presentation was filled with life and emotion in their Milan show room which yielded me the opportunity to understand on a personal level where this 2005 collection is taking us. Now everyman will be able to travel better no matter what medium of travel…
