Salvatore Ferragamo MILAN, Jan 15, 2007/ FW/ --- Continuing his vision of converging old-world gentility with modern aesthetics, Graeme Black, for Fall 2007, took inspiration from the wardrobe of the turn of the 20th century English gentleman then reworked it to fit the lifestyle of the 21st century.

For the formal looks, trousers were cut loose, but not wide, giving it a freedom of movement without being baggy. For the sportive style, trousers were cut slim, but not constrictive, freedom of movement is still the primary concern.

In fact, Black went for functionality and comfort as his main focus, but he never lost sight of the style; the result, a very polished and elegant collection that is signature Ferragamo.

Multiple variants of the coat were also proposed from the slim fitting leather bomber jacket with sloping shoulders giving the wearer a ‘devilish attitude,’ to the two-button coat usually worn in town just for everyday errands.

Then, there is the woodsman-inspired (woodsman is used very loosely here) six-button double-breasted jacket with wide lapels and high collar that has a ‘rugged’ attitude without losing its polish; to the riding coat with a fur-trim collar. In short, Black dressed the gentlemen for both town and country living!

Still, the designer did not forget that the Ferragamo gent has to stay indoors, too. So, Black proposed cardigans with shawl collars and quilted lounging robes that reach up to mid calf.
