PARIS, Oct 14, 2002/ FW/ --- If there was a show that suffered from poor editing and poor
styling, it was the Stella Cadente show held last last Saturday, October 5 at the Louvre.
To begin with, the clothes are on the right side of strange.
The models wore printed leggings circa 1980s all throughout the show.
It would have been alright if it matched all the clothes shown, but unfortunately, it did
not.
To add to the strangeness, a model was wearing what looked like a 'leaf and flower' sculpture
as a top paired with a white pleated blouse.
It would make sense if it was an episode of Star Trek with Orion slave girls, but not on a
Paris runway.
As the show progressed, models came out bare-chested, wearing blouses made of tulle.
If the tulle blouses were part of the collection, a woman would be really hard up to wear
it anywhere.
And the strangest thing was the 'red' tulle wedding dress as the finale.
Again, the model was wearing the printed leggings, and this time it was paired with a
printed 'work-out' top.
There was a lot of creativity and imagination in this collection.
There were also several pieces that are actually wearable. But is it gym wear, daywear,
evening wear or costumes?
If the designer is thinking of mainstreet ladies as her market, she missed the target
a mile long, unless those ladies are going to a costume party.
But if her target is the Sci-fi channel, UPN or George Lucas Productions, then she hit it
right on the mark!
