MILAN, Mar 6, 2003/ --- Beatrice Trussardi took her bow at the end of her family label's
fashion show in Milan Tuesday, capping off her first full day as president of the house.
Beatrice officially took the reigns from her brother Francesco, who died tragically in an
auto accident in northern Italy in January.
The collection show in Trussardi's elegant palazzo opposite the world's greatest opera house
La Scala, underlined how much the brother and sister had re-centered the label in what
it does best -- leather goods.
Every Trussardi show is a display of Italy's artisanal qualities and this one was no
exception, as box boots in brightly colored suedes anchored every look in the show.
Opening with a speckled rust-colored coat in pony and moving onto wonderful nylon
shirt-jackets with grosgrain trim and mink panels in a rainbow of hues, the clothes
had plenty of zest and attitude.
Hard to place ethnic elements showed in a variety of outfits from purple pants with
reindeer prints to some leather dresses in the same imperial color embroidered with
Alpine flowers.
Switching up the ranks, Matteo Felli, the former general manager, has been made managing
director of Trussardi.
The house, which opened boutiques in Eastern Europe, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Russia and China
last year, now plans to consolidate in the Italian market and boost its presence in Europe.
After a tragic few months, Beatrice displayed true style with grace under pressure as she
took her solo bow this afternoon.
