MILAN, Jul 1, 2005/ FW/ – Holiday snaps are the backdrop, where light is always abundant and memories golden, Valentino takes a trip down memory lane back to the 1970’s and reminiscences the Isle of Capri.
Well dressed men of the Mediterranean wear smart casuals in the day, stylishly slick silk select pieces for evenings and choose light flowing breezy mornings.
The deep blue sea reflects fashion like a mirror, where Valentino holidayed as a young man 30 years ago. Suave and chic, they were gurus ahead of their time with only their smart style and brilliant white smiles as tools of seduction.
With hair blowing in the wind, lazy summers are crisp with tight three button jackets, slim fitting trousers and the transformation of a vacation into a collection filling a wardrobe with emblems on polo pockets taken from Americans staying at The Hotel Quisisana, black musicians printed onto t-shirts from Number Two on Capri and gold jewelry.
In a color palette of summer brights and sunset magic, a lilac jacket is worn with white denim five pocket trousers, a seersucker pinstripe suit is worn over a blue cotton sweater and sponge jackets eliminate the need for a beach towel.
Safari style jackets are now heavenly while floral print is an expression of modern masculinity. Silk is not only reserved for shirts and jackets, but trousers matched with trench.
While holiday destinations may have changed, Valentino’s summer fashion manner is destined to appear on the next in vogue beach, but naturally before the masses realizes its potential, keeping splendor all the more exclusive.
