PARIS, Oct 9, 2005/ FW/ – ‘I want to stand apart from all the fake couture that has dominated the runways for the past few seasons. I imagined lots of pieces that a woman could have fun putting together…’Valentino.
Making his spring summer 2006 collection a wardrobe a compilation of moments and individual eccentric style.
A timeless Valentino thin silhouette graced the runway in a white tailored silk cotton braided jacket, flats and slim black linen silk trousers, uncomplicated and neat.
The collection moves smart feminine lines with masculine precision from crisp white shirts to flouncy pleated skirts with a fifties feel accentuating the waist to intricate embroidery and beading on jacket backs and entire skirts.
Puff organza sleeves and flowing colourful floral play with volume while lace ruffles fall down shirtfronts in nonchalant grace and romance enhancing Valentino’s contemporary way of dressing.
Asian influences flow among the pleats and sartorial detail via Chinese buttons, obi’s tied at the waist, tassels hanging from cuffs and pretty prints on little silky jackets that sit over perfect summer dresses.
Ironically triumphing in feminine allure after taking souvenirs from China and a classic tailored ladylike wardrobe, Valentino’s woman is independent and continuously renewing herself.
