Veronique Leroy PARIS, May 15, 2007/ FW/ --- One of the recognizable name in the Paris fashion scene, Veronique Leroy is a fashion chameleon whose creativity seem boundless and endless.

As the current Creative Director for Leonard, Leroy is rejuvenating the brand as she use Leonard’s signature prints as trim, while creating new ones that falls within the maison’s DNA.

And then, there is her eponymous brand that is sexily alternative, that is also morphing to be creatively artsy and conventional, but retains its alternative status because of its fashion forward styling.

Will the real Veronique Leroy please stand up?

For Fall 2007, the Paris-based designer answered that question, presenting a collection that was literally culled from her own archives. Without reworking any of the pieces, and just mixing and matching them, Veronique Leroy came out with a very coherent and strong collection.

‘We wanted to show that these items, that were past creations are still of today,’ Veronique Leroy said in her very short press notes.

And she is right. Each piece naturally fell into the collection, as if they were originally created together. The green double-breasted trench coat cinched at the waist with a wide belt and has very wide sleeves is in tune with the midnight blue monk coat with hidden plackets.

The long pencil skirt with kick pleats at the back complements the tube dress with a banded hemline that covers the knees. The sweater jacket with mutton sleeves and cowl neckline balances the brief jackets with zippers in front.

Without even trying, Veronique Leroy demonstrated how timeless her creations are; that though trends have changed, these pieces are still very relevant with the current fashion crop.

As the short press note said, ‘Don’t look for the latest or vintage, because it is all VERONIQUE LEROY.
