PARIS, Oct 10, 2003/ FW/ --- When Viktor & Rolf’s creative juices flow, it just flows and flows, accepting no boundaries. And for Spring / Summer 2004, the design duo were on a roll, creating beautiful garments after another, that it is hard for someone to say which is the most beautiful and most creative.
From the matching pantsuits with extra-long pants ruche at the bottom, to the overcoats with double lapels and the afternoon dresses with over the shoulder sleeves held by spaghetti straps, everything were simply amazing.
The draping and layering techniques, which Viktor & Rolf are known for, were used in all the garments.
It is really hard to choose which is the most memorable piece, but I have a personal favorite – the white shirtdress with standing collar and ‘bow like’ lapel, cinched at the waist with a white belt made of the same fabric tied like a bow.
This garment can be worn at work, to lunch, even an early dinner, making it very versatile and used as a ‘go anywhere dress’ for a busy career woman.
For the evening and cocktail dresses, Viktor & Rolf used lace, georgettes and crepes to create flowing dresses and gowns. The cuts emphasized the woman’s curves and made bare shoulders sexy and alluring.
The final piece – a coffee colored gown with bared shoulders, adorned with a black length of fabric is worthy of a red carpet appearance by any of the Hollywood goddesses.
When Viktor & Rolf appeared on the runway to greet their admirers, the audience gave them a deafening applause at the Espace Ephemere Tuileries where they held their show.
