Yigal Azrouel: Edgy Femininity

October 31, 2001/ FW/ --- Yigal Azrouel's trademark style is soft, feminine clothes that are
sexy, modern and elegant. With his Spring 2002 Collection, you can add the adjective edgy!
From his very successful Fall 2001 collection, Yigal Azrouel has gone from strength to
strength with his Spring 2002 show. Last season, the Yigal Azrouel woman was sophisticated
and elegant. This time, the Yigal Azrouel woman has an edgy femininity who strong and soft at
the same time.
His daywear collection were composed of pencil-cut pants paired with matching jackets giving
it a formal look, something you can wear to work and then straight to dinner with friends. That
same pants can be worn with a tube-top and would be great for the weekend or going to the clubs.
For those weekends at the beach, the designer's vision of a one-piece suit is a playful play
with "stripes" which are actually horizontal strips of fabric joined at the seam with
a vertical strip. You show a lot of skin, but technically, you are still wearing a one-piece
swimsuit. Only problem is if you use it sunbathing you might look like a zebra after a day
in the sun.
My favorites swimsuit is actually the printed one piece with a very deep V-neckline. The
graphical print is actually an original by the designer. If you have finished sunbathing or
swimming, you can wear a pareo on top of it as a skirt, and no one would be the wiser that
you are wearing a swimsuit!
The designer's eveningwear collection is just a sight to see! The black frock with a flowing
skirt and assymetrical hemline with sexy spaghetti straps is just divine!
He also has the more tailored and body hugging gowns that show off a woman's figure. One thing
about Yigal Azrouel, he understands and knows the woman's body.
And this season, the designer
decided to emphasize the shoulder. Halter tops, spaghetti straps, one-shoulder ensembles, and
off the shoulder sleeves are the main fares of this collection.
Yigal Azrouel is still considered an emerging designer. And he is definitely one name to watch!
