Yigal Azrouel: Taking A Cue From the Original Diva

Nov 6, 2001/ FW/ --- Yigal Azrouel's Spring 2002 show reminded me so much of Cleopatra,
the original diva in my book. There is no other woman in history who could claim of
having built an empire and then destroying one herself.
If there is one original member of women's liberation, Cleopatra would be on top of the list!
So, her famed look translated to 2002 AD, the modern woman taking a cue for the Queen herself
was a treat for me. Cleopatra was strong and feminine at the same time. She knew how to run
an empire, but she also knew how to be a woman.
So, has history come full circle after thousands of years? In the fashion runways it has; and
what a collection it was!
Yigal Azrouel who is known for his feminine cuts and creations added edgy this season to his
collection.
With the models given an updated look of a modern day Cleopatra, the effect was incredible.
The message was, to take a line from Helen Reddy, "I am woman, I am strong, I am soft
and I am incredible."
From daywear to eveningwear, Yigal Azrouel showed his trademark style of feminine looks -
elegant, modern and sexy. The Yigal Azrouel woman is in charge of herself, in control and
most of all, still a very desirable woman.
She rules by day and by night, for the Yigal Azrouel woman is a total diva. But what do you
expect when someone took a cue from Cleopatra? Need to build an empire? No problem. How about
destroying one? Let me think about that if that is worth my while.
