Shiatzy Chen S14 (40)PARIS, Oct 2, 2013/ — SHIATZY CHEN continues its 35th anniversary celebration which began in March 2013 when the label made its debut in Paris. Yesterday, it presented its Spring/Summer 2014 collection once again at the Grand Palais in Paris.

On the 45-meter long catwalk, 27 models including supermodels Yumi Lambert, Liu Wen, Ziao Wen Ju, Hana J., and Ariel Wu, the latest winner from modeling competition in Milan, walked down stage to present the latest 40 collections designed by Shiatzy Chen. The lake green moss on the side of the stage hinted at the refreshing looks this season

With the theme of “Sceneries of Time”, SHIATZY CHEN’s 2014 Spring-Summer collection extracts the memories and images from the past 35 years through deconstruction of the lines from paintings by Picasso and Mondrian.

Each expression is a reflection of the path taken by SHIATZY CHEN. Here Creative Director Wang Chen Tsai-Hsia(Ms. Shiatzy Chen) tells her stories of memories from childhood, colorful sc eneries and her experience at this collection.

The collection takes a palette of ink black, off white, shocking orange, Chinese red, baby blue, powder pink, imperial yellow, and lake green.

For the first time, the collection pushes the boundaries of traditional Chinese embroidery techniques and presents a fresh take on the embroidery surfaces. SHIATZY CHEN deconstructs the facial features of a Beijing opera mask, injecting geometric lines and patchwork of fabrics into embroideries.

An innovative embroidery technique of mesh fabrics with color patches layers transparent and opaque textures, revealing extremely delicate handwork and designs. Tone on tone fabrics in diverse materials play with laces, creating looks that are breathtakingly elegant.

Accessories come alive with energetic and modern colors with nuances of Oriental elements. Bright leathers are patched together in the style of masks in Beijing Opera. The changing textures of matte and shiny leathers bring a youthful touch to the luxurious designs.
