Spiegel Group Online Sales Continues to Grow

DALLAS, Nov 8, 2001/FW/ -- An updated website with zoom technology is giving Spiegel brisk business online. The e-commerce channel of Spiegel continued to grow in October, posting a sales increase of 47%. Last Septemeber, it posted a 7% increase in sales.

Last month, Spiegel unveiled their newly redesigned website, Spiegel.com which features RichFX ZoomFX™ technology, streaming video and an interactive fashion quiz; meanwhile, loading times per page are faster by 30 to 50 percent.

Though their online channel shows tremendous growth, their catalog sales is suffering, posting a 14% decrease in sales for October.

Spiegel Group's other division are not faring well either. Total sales reported for the tenth month of the year was $217.9 million, a 7% decrease from sales of $234.1 million compared to last year.

The tremendous growth on their online channel was able to offset some of the decreasing sales, but not all of it to show a positive growth for the whole group.
