ADELAIDE, South Australia, Aug 17, 1999/ FW/ -- A teacher can measure his or her achievements through his or her
students," my mother used to say. She was a school teacher (retired as a Principal actually) and when she met
her old students and saw how successful they were, there was always that smile on her face. And I saw that smile
very often.

"Austin Phonix, an instructor and Visual Merchandising Course Coordinator
at the Douglas Mawson Institute of TAFE in Adelaide, South Australia has a lot to smile about these days. They held
a store window competition and his students came through with flying colors.
First prize was garnered by Samantha Katsaros for her
9-5 Quintet Shirt Window.
A playful presentation of neckties with an artist lay-figure holding a
sign twice its size was so eye-catching that it impressed judges.
Wild Orchid was what Sinead Coverdale named the window which won
second prize.
A colorful strong fashion presentation using a mannequin, fabric pads hanging from the ceiling
and the shopping bags to complete the presentation.
Diana Leonello came in third with her Men's Wear Window.
Blue panels as background with three male mannequins dressed to the hilt combined with the proper use of
lights showed great skills for window design.
Third Prize: Men's Wear Window by Diana Leonello
We have the faculty and students of the Douglas Mawson Institute of TAFE
to thank for these great window presentations.
