Nordstrom February Same-Store Sales Increase 14.1 Percent

DALLAS, Mar 4, 2004/ FW/ --- Seattle-based specialty retailer Nordstrom continues its winning streak this year, reporting a 14.1% increase in same-store sales for February.

The luxury retailer reported sales of $431.3 million, an increase of 11.8% compared to sales of $385.8 million last year.

Same-store sales increased 8.8 percent for the 28-day period in 2004 compared to the 29-day period in 2003. On a comparable 28-day to 28-day basis, same-store sales increased 14.1 percent.

February same-store sales in full-line stores increased in all geographic regions and all major merchandise categories.

Last month, Nordstrom reported a 74% increase in earning for the fourth quarter of 2003. The company’s accounted net earnings of $104.3 million, or $0.74 per diluted share, compared to $60.0 million and $0.44, respectively last year.

On a comparable 4-5-4 basis, total sales for the fourth quarter of 2003 increased 12.0 percent, to $1.9 billion, compared to sales of $1.7 billion in the same period last year. Fourth quarter 2003 same-store sales increased 8.5 percent.
