From Visual Merchandiser To Fashion Director, Neiman Marcus Names Ken Downing Senior Vice President

Neiman Marcus DALLAS, Mar 13, 2006 / --- There is a definitive career path for Visual Merchandisers and Neiman Marcus’ Ken Downing is living proof with his promotion as Senior Vice President, Fashion Director of Neiman Marcus, the nation’s leading purveyor of luxury goods.

Today, Karen Katz, President and CEO of Neiman Marcus announced the Fashion Institute of Technology graduate promotion wherein in his new role, Mr. Downing will manage the New York City fashion office of Neiman Marcus and will be based at the store headquarters in Dallas, TX. He will report to Ann Stordahl, Executive Vice President, Women’s Apparel.

"Ken's deep understanding of our customer, knowledge of our buying organization and relationships within the fashion community make him an excellent choice for this key position," said Karen Katz. "His energy and commitment to our business are inspiring to us all."

Ken assumed his current position, Vice President, Public Relations, in 1997. He joined Neiman Marcus Stores in 1990 in the Visual department of the Beverly Hills store. In 1992 he advanced to Visual Manager in the same store and subsequently was promoted to Director of Visual Planning and Presentation for all stores. Prior to joining Neiman Marcus, Ken worked in visual merchandising at I. Magnin. Mr. Downing is a graduate of Seattle Central College and The Fashion Institute of Technology and has a degree in apparel design.
