LOS ANGELES, Jun 20, 2006 / --- In two separate statements, Tiffany & Co. announced the opening of two stores, one in New York’s Wall Street and the other in Hamburg’s Binnenalster area.
The Wall Street store, which will be located at 37 Wall street is expected to open in Fall 2007, will encompass approximately 7,600 gross square feet of the building's ground floor and mezzanine.
Currently, the landmark building is undergoing extensive preservation and restoration by Skyline Developers.
Skyline Developers has restored the original facade of 37 Wall Street, the 25-story, Beaux Arts-style building designed between 1906 and 1907 by architect Francis Kimball as the Trust Company of America. The building is a significant example of early skyscrapers in Manhattan, and is one of the oldest remaining high-rises on Wall Street.
With this historically accurate and detailed restoration, the timeless elegance of 37 Wall Street returns as the ideal setting for a Tiffany store and the jeweler's renowned collections that reflect the growing spirit and vibrancy of a renewed downtown community.
"Tiffany's first store opened on Lower Broadway in 1837 and was followed by ever grander emporiums farther uptown" said Beth O. Canavan, executive vice president of Tiffany & Co. "Opening a store near our original location takes us back to our roots in New York.
The retail location in Hamburg, Germany is expected to open its door to the public by Summer 2007. The approximately 2400 square-foot (230 square meters) store will be located at Neuer Wall 19, in an exclusive area of the city's waterfront Binnenalster.
The jeweler will offer an array of renowned TIFFANY & CO. collections, including its celebrated engagement diamonds and jewels of ultimate glamour in platinum and eighteen-karat gold settings; rare and lustrous pearls; fashion jewelry and watches; the signature designs of Elsa Peretti, Paloma Picasso, Jean Schlumberger, and Tiffany's newest designer, Frank Gehry; as well as accessories, china and crystal gifts.
Hamburg marks the third Tiffany & Co store in Germany. The luxury retailer also has stores in Frankfurt and Munich.
