Despite High June Temps, Consumer Spending Starts to Cool, According to NRF
WASHINGTON, DC, Jul 14, 2006 / --- Although temperatures may be rising, consumer spending may be cooling off. According to the National Retail Federation (NRF), retail industry sales for June (which exclude automobiles, gas stations, and restaurants) rose 6.7 percent over last year and increased 0.2 percent seasonally adjusted over May.

Sales Forecast: Deloitte Research Findings Suggest A Difficult Retail Environment This Fall
DALLAS, Jul 13, 2006/ FW/ --- High energy costs is finally catching up with the consumers. According to the Deloitte Research Leading Index of Consumer Spending that was released today, the index is down at 3.15%, down from an upwardly revised gain of 3.3% last month.

Department Stores Comparable Store Sales Within Range of Each Other
DALLAS, Jul 7, 2006/ --- JCPenney and Saks Incorporated reported 4.3% and 4.7%, respectively for their comparable store sales for the month of June. Federated Department Stores, which operates Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Famous-Barr, Filene's, Foley's, Hecht's, Kaufmann's, L.S. Ayres, Marshall Field's, Meier & Frank, Robinsons-May, Strawbridge's and The Jones Store lagged behind at 1.7%.
