Visa Raises Interchange Rate By 0.6 Percent
DALLAS, Apr 19, 2007 / --- To borrow a line from Tom Brokaw, could this be a new ‘fleecing of America’ with Visa raising its interchange rate by 0.6%? With this rate increase, the $36 billion in total interchange fees consumers paid in 2006 will probably increase close to 20 percent this year, the Merchants Payments Coalition said today.
