SAN ANTONIO, TX, Jul 10, 1998/ FW/ --- In Texas, San Antonio is the tourist destination city. With the historic Alamo in its midst, it is also called the "The Cradle of Texas Independence."
Nicknamed the "The Fiesta Town," with its Riverwalk and Six Flags Amusement Park, visiting San Antonio is a delight.
And for those of you who are great shoppers, don't worry! San Antonio has a lot to offer in that regard too.
Homecoming
Retailers have to be creative to sell their merchandise. Usually, we follow the seasons and the holidays; and added to that, the local events. This window is one of those, capitalizing on the Homecoming Ball which is usually a big event locally. There is minimal props - the balloons and the banner. The mannequins are almost not interacting with one another which can be because the VM is trying to avoid cluttering up the stage and wanted the gowns not to outsell the other. No matter what the mannequins are doing or not doing, the idea here is to capitalize on local events to sell merchandise.
Beach Time
San Antonio is only a stone's throw away to Corpus Christi and South Padre Island. And since San Antonio is the biggest city in that part of Texas, showing beach items on the window is almost a must! One mannequin and a beach umbrella is enough to create the atmosphere. Sometimes, less is more.
Sun Worship
Being only 50 miles away from the dessert, San Antonio almost has a perpetual summer. Windows showing off summer clothes is a necessity due to the weather.
Cowboy Hat
It's Rodeo Time! And the windows were made to look like a barn! Mannequins wearing cowboy hats, but wearing the latest fashion to go to the rodeo. The floor was made of hay and there is even a real fence. Great atmosphere!
