DALLAS, Apr 7, 1999/ FW/ --- Every year, the Dallas Galleria holds the Primavera Festival to welcome Spring! Activities are planned during the whole month of March, which actually coincides with Spring Break and Easter. The whole mall sheds winter and spring flowers sprout, literally!
Macy's
Spring is in the air - Blue sky, cumulus clouds, floral print dress. The background was handpainted and the only prop in this window. Petals adorn the foot of the mannequin (not shown) which adds to the feeling of spring. The lighting is dramatic with all the spotlights pointing to the shoulder of the mannequin, the background although it's the biggest and catches your attention becomes part of the whole presentation due to the lighting. The merchandise is highlighted, not the mannequin.
Nordstrom Pinwheels
Pinwheels, who would have thought that they would be so dramatic used a background?
Used in three windows: (1) two mannequins, an electric fan with a dual purpose - to make the
pinwheels move and to give the feeling that it is hot! This is Dallas after all. (2) Accessories wherein risers were used to differentiate height
Nordstrom's Brassy Spring
Brass doodads shaped like birds and flowers, and monoliths that served as backgrounds have
been painted with clouds, a window cut out to show off the merchandise.
Living Mannequins
Cotton Incorporated had a special booth to promote the cotton fabric. Instead of using mannequins
to show off the clothes, models that posed like mannequins. The models would stay in the same pose for
about 15 minutes! Then move for another 'grouping and pose.'
