DALLAS, Nov 2, 1999/ FW/ --- A serious shopper could easily spend an entire day discovering treasures on three levels of spectacular shopping - all under a dramatic glass barrel vault atrium.
This is one Texas institution that should not be missed - a genuine Dallas experience - world class shopping at its best!
Brighton
When did the Nutcracker become a symbol of Christmas? I really don't know. While growing up, it was already a standard symbol for Christmas. Seeing this store window with a bigger than life nutcracker was just too much to resist. Let it speak for itself!
Coach
We have seen the frame before, in fact, the frame that this Coach Window is using had been used for their Fall Collection. For Christmas, it looks like an entirely new display. Plexi glass with snow flakes stenciled (or painted) on it. Silver Christmas tree and white lights hanging from the ceiling. The two windows follow the same theme, yet the elements vary depending on te merchandise that will be displyed. The lesson here is "reuse" and/or "recycle" your props. It makes great windows, less time consuming to prepare and of course, makes a healthy bottomline for the store.
Texas Christmas Tree
What makes this Christmas tree special is that all the ornaments and the gifts under the tree is all about Texas! Create a theme for your Christmas tree. Since this store is in Dallas, and sells souviner items, the store played it up! The gifts are live merchandise of course and some of the Christmas ornaments are also merchandise. Christmas balls and stars are intermixed with it.
Fossil
Y2K! This window just screams it. Of course, Fossil has the right to promote it. Their business is time! The poster is the key in this presentation. The watches are arranged beside a small Christmas tree which is decorated traditionally.
Limited Too
This adorable Skater Window (she actually rotates) by the Limited Too is very eyecatching. It follows The Limited Too's theme this year which is actually cartoon characters for their windows. A window based on a cartoon cut out, snow flakes and vinyl on glass seems easy to make, but in actuality, it really takes a lot of expertise from the Visual Merchandiser to finish this off. Attention to details is very important because glass is a very unforgiving surface for the vinyl.
Saks Fifth Avenue
Saks Fifth Avenue opened their new location at the Dallas Galleria last September 1999.
Dallasites waited almost 6 months to see it. And when it opened, it was worth it!
Using headless mannequins to show fashion merchandise on an open back window, the mannequins wore outfits that are avaialable on that part of the sales floor behind them.
Christmas trees made from wire and red "capiz" created the atmosphere of the season. There are "pockets" in the Christmas tree to display accessories for the dress, including perfume and make up. Make everything count during Christmas time!
