DALLAS, May 1, 1999 / FW/ --- Clearance store windows are a presence in stores that cannot be avoided simply because there are four seasons in a year and a sales are a retailing tool.
Whatever the reason is, clearance and sale events happen all year round, and visual merchandisers have to support this occurrence. Store windows and floor displays can be used to promote these campaigns.
Done creatively, clearance store windows become a valuable tool and an enjoyable task.
A way to promote a sale is the use of big bags with the word ‘SALE’ printed on them. Bunch them together using forms and make sure that the window is clear of any props; it is a very powerful statement.
The same concept can be used on the sales floor, using mannequins and bigger than life shopping bags. With the mannequins wearing merchandise that are on sale, it will attract customers to browse.
A screen used as a background and poster is also a good choice. Chances are, the VM department already has a screen. Just dress it up and put all the wordings and voila, you have a beautiful sale sign.
And for the most dramatic, show the mannequins NUDE in the store window holding sale signs and ‘everything must go’ that also works as covers. Nothing catches a passer by eyes more than a nude mannequin because it is seldom seen.
There is also the shock value of a human form being nude. Bare mannequins give the feeling of ‘everything must go’!
