SAN FRANCISCO, May 7, 1999 / FW/ --- San Francisco has a population of 770,000 and it is the
second most densely populated urban center (after New York) in the U.S.
The metropolitan San Francisco area has 6.5 million residents, making it the nation's 5th
largest urban center. With this statistics, it is really no wonder that Union Square, the
premier shopping place in the city by the Bay is thriving.
Jil Sander, Gucci and Hermes have free-standing boutiques in the area.
Jil Sander
Classic colors, classic styles, classic Sander. Very un fussy. Clean, modern lines designed to move a woman from home to office to a social life in-between, the vast space and breathing room around the display and it's gargantuan window indicates the freedom of movement allowed by the clothes.
Gucci
So simple, so sweet, so...low? That trademark pink of the Sweet&Low packet background makes the pink of the blouse feel warm and everyday, and adds just a hint of 70's kitsch and retro (If it were a blue shirt, would they have used Equal?). A classic look; sweet, compact, and very slim.
Hermes
The classic metal frame of the window, door, and storefront is brought to life by the Grecian statues (a nice change from the common mannequin), making the look more museum than boutique. The bright scarves adorning the sculptures drape across their giant frame in brilliant color, emphasizing the ability of such a fine and dramatic accessory.
