DALLAS, Sep 12, 2000/ FW/ --- Here's an interesting way to show shoes in your windows!

You can even make it a Christmas window by adding the topiary Christmas trees from the previous article.

Or use it year round, by adding flowers for the season.

Materials needed

  • picture frames
  • plywood (cut to size for the frames )
  • plexiglass shoe displayers (those use for slatwalls are perfect)
  • bung moss or spanish moss
  • wire netting or chicken wire
  • Tools Needed

  • pliers
  • glue gun
  • drill and drill bits
  • assorted screws and nails
  • invisible wire (or nylon wire) for hanging the frames
  • eye hooks
  • hammer
  • Instructions: Making the Frames

    1. Cut a piece of the wire netting or chicken wire to fit the plywood, giving allowance so that it can wrap over the side. Secure with small nails.
    2. Drill a hole in the plexiglass shoe displayer and the plywood. Secure the plexiglass shoe displayer to the plywood with screws.
    3. If using bung moss, trim away the root portion with a florist scissor. This will make the bung moss easier to fit to the cone surface and easier to glue. Make sure that the plexiglass part which is attached to the plywood is also covered.
    4. Squeeze glue from the glue gun onto the underside of the moss. Place clumps together onto foam as close as possible.
    5. Use U-pins if needed. (U-pins are a must if using spanish moss.
