PARIS, May 20, 2008 / FW/ — Stars and huge bows were used as the main props and decoration for these Chanel store windows at Avenue Montaigne last January. Realistic mannequins were used, thus giving the store window that extra feeling of beauty.
Though obviously many window dressers choose to use different types of mannequins, using the realistic variety is becoming more rare every year. Because realistic mannequins are always more expensive than the other types, it is a big investment for the store.
Of course, this is Chanel we are talking about. Still, it is good to mention that using realistic mannequins gives the store window TLC.

Store Windows in Paris: Christian Dior

PARIS, May 19, 2008 / FW/ — Interestingly enough, the store windows at the Christian Dior flagship store at Avenue Montaigne feature white abstract mannequins. The store could have gone for the newer style of transparent mannequins or it could have chosen to use the more traditional realistic mannequins. Yet, it opted for the almost boring and unexciting chalk white abstract mannequins.
Some window dressers believe that the mannequin should not take the attention away from the merchandise; the same way that some fashion designers refuse to hire supermodels because they are the ones being noticed, not the clothes. Because the Christian Dior dresses are already very attractive, the choice of the unexciting white abstract mannequins make sense. You don’t want the mannequin getting the same attention as the clothes.

DALLAS, May 18, 2008 / FW/ — Going through our electronic photo library, I noticed these Victoria’s Secret store windows shot way back in September 2005 when the company was celebrating its 10th anniversary. Since then, Tyra Banks and Giselle Bundchen who are both prominently feature in these windows, have retired as Victoria’s Secret Angels. Luckily, Heidi Klum and Adriana Lima are still on the roster of the famous sexy angels.
