NEW YORK, Oct 8, 2001/ --- Gianfranco Ferré will open its first free-standing boutique in the United States next month.

The Milan-based designer has chosen Miami's Bal Harbour Shops as the home of its new Gianfranco Ferre Jeans boutique. The 1,000-square-foot store, described as "a sleek and modern space," will open to the public in the second week of November.

The spring 2002 collection, offering everything from embellished denim to "biker chic" to desert prints, will premier at the boutique. An opening celebration is tentatively scheduled for early December.

Gianfranco Ferré sees this new store as a model for future shops, set to open in all major markets around the US.
