LOS ANGELES, Jan 7, 2006/ FW/ --- How many times do you have to rush home to watch you favorite TV show or catch the ballgame? Those days are nearly over, as the Internet becomes part of the American lifestyle.
According to statistics, by 2009, more than 400 million households in the U.S. will be ‘connected’ mostly via broadband. And many will have the option to get their TV programming, news, videos, movies and music whenever they want through their high-speed Internet connection.
Leaps in technology are turning wireless laptops into all-in-one entertainment devices for people on the move.
Intel's Viiv technology showcased during the 2006 CES (held January 5 –8, 2006 in Las Vegas) blend the best of today's media center computers with high quality digital consumer electronics.
Says Ralph Bond of Intel, “We’re really seeing the consumer electronics, PC and entertainment industries join forces like never before. These new all-in-one Intel Viiv technology-powered entertainment PC systems will make it easy to enjoy all the fun the Internet has to offer, and right on your living room TV.”
These new entertainment PCs can turn on and off quickly and operate using a remote control. Many models can even let you play high definition video in 7.1 surround sound while transferring music and video to other devices.
A new generation of Intel Centrino mobile technology is bringing dual core processor performance, less battery consumption and built-in wireless Internet capability to laptops, so people can use them for grabbing entertainment stored on home PCs, or for tapping into services like TiVoToGo so they can watch their favorite recorded TV shows and entertainment anywhere, anytime.
