New Product Offer Quarter-screen VGA, providing greater merchandising, informational capabilities
ATLANTA, Feb. 4, 2002 /PRNewswire/ -- NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) today
introduced NCR RealScan 7802, the first scanner with a color, quarter-screen
VGA display (320 X 240), as a part of an advanced price verification scanner
solution.
"NCR RealScan 7802 has interactive, graphic capabilities that stretch far
beyond reading the bar code and providing price information to shoppers," said
Vice President of NCR RealScan Pierre Abboud.
"Custom applications design by
NCR's professional services can help optimize the scanner's productivity by
providing information on merchandising, customer loyalty or products."
The latest addition to its newly branded NCR RealScan family of bar code
scanners, NCR RealScan 7802 is capable of Ethernet and 802.11B wireless
connectivity.
It can be mounted virtually anywhere in the store, and features
NCR's exclusive PACESETTER PLUS software, which quickly and accurately decodes
bar codes on poor quality labels.
NCR RealScan 7802 is available with a color
LCD display with optional touch screen, and 4x20 vacuum tube fluorescent
display, as well as other custom peripherals. It can also be used to display
everything from slide shows of promotions to customer loyalty applications.
"As the company that introduced bar code scanners to retail more than
25 years ago, NCR understands the real operational challenges retailers face,"
said Abboud. "NCR RealScan 7802, along with our other scanner solutions, is
designed to help retailers enhance their level of customer service while
improving operational efficiency."
Named the global leader in stationary bar code scanners by Venture Data
Corporation, NCR installed the first bar code scanner in a supermarket in
1974. NCR's best selling bi-optic scanners -- which also can read the new
Reduced Space Symbology bar codes -- lead the industry in their ability to
read bar codes on the first pass, improving checkout efficiency and customer
satisfaction.
