Apr 29, 2002/FW/ -- Based in Redmond, Washington, PlayNetwork Inc. creates custom music

identity and the customer experience. Licensed by all major record labels,

millions of original artist tunes that are mixed and delivered monthly through
networks and long-play CD-ROMs.
Frost & Sullivan awarded PlayNetwork for
authoring the first and only installation and performance standards for
commercial sound systems.
At a private education forum last week during GlobalShop 2002 in Chicago,
PlayNetwork was commended for bringing together leaders of retail merchandising,
business audio and store planning to discuss improving the shopping experience
with quality sound system designs and installations.
PlayNetwork's forum, titled "Establishing a Standard of Quality Sound for
Retail Environments," provided an in-depth view of how the impact of sound
systems in retail environments can be maximized according to various store
concepts, physical layouts and customer preferences. Representatives of
top-brand retailers, media and various stakeholders in the commercial music
industry commented that the event offered new insights on how to build,
configure and provide ongoing service to the quality sound systems in retail
design.
"It was important that PlayNetwork have this kind of discussion about the
effects of quality sound delivery in the retail environment," said Steve
Kaufman, editor of VM+SD magazine. "Retailers struggle to establish their
identities through their stores and their merchandising, and sound is one of
those subtle stimuli that can do so much to drive customer behavior if done
right."
The forum was led by a panel of audio and retail experts - John Stiernberg, a
25-year veteran of the audio industry and principal analyst for Stiernberg
Consulting; Robin Sibucao, COO of PlayNetwork, Kevin Flynn, senior vice
president of marketing for Finish Line, Inc.; Bill Calma, COO of Tannoy/TGI
North America; and Mark Miosi, president of Sound Source Electronix, Inc.
PlayNetwork will issue a white paper report on the insights shared in the
90-minute session to serve as an educational resource for select retailers,
media and analyst organizations. Additionally, digital video footage and
electronic images will be available for media reproduction and distribution.
