Feb 22, 2003/ FW/ --- Optimal Robotics Corp. (NASDAQ:OPMR), North America's leading provider of retail self-checkout systems, is pleased to reveal its newest advancements in self-checkout technology. Optimal will be exhibiting at the Food Marketing Institute's Marketechnics trade show at the Dallas Convention Center, February 23-25, 2003 in Booth # 1524, where the most recent developments will be demonstrated for the first time.

Optimal Robotics' will be featuring its new dual belt take-away system, U-ScanMax™, designed for large orders. This latest adaptation of the U-Scan® system comes equipped with sensors near the scanning platform as well as at the end of each belt, allowing a shopper to scan their order and send items along one belt while the previous shopper continues to bag their remaining groceries on the other. The result of this operation is increased throughput and a shorter waiting time for shoppers.

In addition to the U-ScanMax station, Optimal will present a scaled down model of the U-Scan1, single bag terminal. The new unit has been specifically designed for debit and credit card transactions, and will also dispense cash as an added convenience for the shopper. The U-Scan model offers a new solution for remote locations, food courts, music departments, convenience stores, or virtually anywhere a kiosk might be more beneficial than a large order system, and in some cases, as an alternative to an ATM.

Optimal will also have the U-Scan Express, U-Scan Carousel, low-profile U-Scan1, U-Scan3, and U-Scan5 models on display. These terminals will be displayed in a six-lane configuration, using one attendant station, and varied multi-media displaying software intended for Grocery, Convenience and Mass Market retail environments.

A U-Scan3, three bag, self-checkout terminal demonstrating the newly developed interface to the Retalix point-of-sale software can also be seen in the Fujitsu and StoreNext booth, #1700.

A U-Scan1, single bag terminal will be demonstrated in the Catalina Marketing booth, # 2100.
