LOS ANGELES, Jan 9, 2008 / FW/ — To many young people, wearing scarves is like dressing like their mothers. Yet, with a little imagination, the scarf is actually a very versatile item in one’s wardrobe.

Wearing a Scarf as a Blouse

1.Lay scarf flat, with wrong side facing you. Make a small knot about four inches above the center of the scarf
2.Pick up scarf so that the wrong side faces the body.
3.Tie the upper ends (near knot) around neck and lower ends around the back.

Scarf as a Bikini Top

1.Lay scarf flat, with wrong side facing you. Fold the scarf 1/3 of the way as shown.
2.Fold the other 1/3 part as shown.
3.Fold the scarf again as shown until you only have 1/3 of the scarf showing.
4.Make a knot right at the center.
5.With the wrong side facing you body, tie a knot with the two ends of the scarf behind your back. You might have to ask a friend to help you with this for a tigher fit.

For Visual Merchandisers, using these techniques to display scarves in a mannequin as part of the total look will actually help sales.

Enjoy!
