The history of travel has always been linked to this Louis Vuitton. His visionary approach in designing
luggage was unrivaled during his days. A good example was in 1875, the couturier Charles Frédéric
Worth divulged an important trade secret to Louis Vuitton: crinolines and leg-of-mutton sleeves would
soon give way to softer materials.
Louis Vuitton responded to this information by adding to his range of trunks one with hanging space
and several drawers: this became the famous Wardrobe, the first piece of furniture used for traveling.
Louis Vuitton died in 1892. Over a hundred years after his death, the firm which bears his name
still survives. And it is still revered for making luxury goods.
