Rockefeller Center is a New York landmark which is a must see when visiting New York. We see it every year on TV, when NBC broadcasts the lighting of the Rockefeller Christmas tree that use thousands of lights.

Actually, Rockefeller Center is not just one building. It is comprised of 19 commercial buildings covering 11 acres of land in midtown Manhattan. The whole area is from 49th to 52nd streets and 5th to 7th Avenues.

The most famous and the most public at Rockefeller Center is 30 Rockefeller Plaza, the largest and the centerpiece of these monoliths. It is also the first one built and when people say Rockefeller Center, they usually mean 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

Where did it get its name? You guessed right - John D. Rockefeller, who was a multi-millionaire even during the 1920s. He built the place!
