Saks Fifth Avenue DALLAS, Jun 5, 2005/ FW/ --- In one of the store windows, there was a 1925 quote by William ‘Snowflake’ Bentley posted. It read:

‘Under the microscope I found that snowflakes were miracles of beauty, and it seemed a shame that this beauty should not be seen and appreciated by others. Every crystal was a masterpiece of design and no one design was ever repeated.’

Taking the quote to heart, Saks Fifth Avenue created beautiful store windows; masterpieces in their own right as each presented a giant snowflake and combined with a display of merchandise.

Using different kinds of mannequins from realistic to abstract, each window is unique. And like the snowflakes that melted, when these windows were taken down, there are lost forever.

William ‘Snowflake’ Bentley took photos of snowflakes to preserve their beauty. In an odd way, a photo of these store windows will also allow others to enjoy their beauty and creativity in the future.
