DALLAS, Jun 5, 2005/ FW/ --- Continuing its tradition of telling a Christmas story in its
store windows, Saks Fifth Avenue’s ‘Exmas Express’ takes a new look on how people shortens
the holiday by calling it Xmas.
Based on the children's book by James Patterson entitled "Santa Kid" and illustrated by Michael Garland, the
story develops around young Chrissie, daughter of Santa and Mrs. Claus, telling the tale of
how Christmas was almost lost due to corporate greed.
Life at the North-Pole was good until Christmas was bought out by Exmas Express. Everything
changed. The North-Pole became a heartless factory and nothing was right.
The whole story was told in 6 store windows, complete with a bigger than life
newspaper headline that shouted, ‘North Pole Bought by Exmas Express. Christmas to be called Exmas.’
As the story went, when Chrissie's Dad, Santa, becomes dispirited and can't make his usual
rounds, Chrissie takes over and saves the day.
This charming story with a modern twist reminds us that Christmas isn't about greed and gifts,
it's much more then that. As long as you "believe".
If that got you interested in the book, you can find the book at

This again emphasizes the fact that when doing a series of store windows, there should be one story, one message. Saks Fifth Avenue takes that into a higher level every Christmas season.
