PARIS, Jul 7, 2006/ FW/ ---Walking Rue Faubourg St. Honoré, it is hard not to notice the creative and engaging store windows that line the street.
Beginning with Hermes that is its displaying the Spring / Summer 2006 collection of accessories, the upbeat and lighthearted quality of the display cannot be missed with an original artwork as background and the garden setting using chairs, a bird bath and topiaries as props.
Lanvin, under the direction of its Creative Director Alber Elbaz looks fun and artistic with the use of everyday chairs that had been painted gold and stacked as if they are going on storage and then used as the pedestal.
The women’s window with an incomplete set of mannequins (the arms are missing) with Lanvin boxes strewn gives the atmosphere of being on the move, which in a way is correct because Lanvin is currently holding its summer sale.
Bottega Veneta is simple and straightforward – a sitting headless mannequin wearing the maison’s current collection. A briefcase and men’s accessories were arranged on the bench to complete the presentation.
Iceberg had changed its window for Fall, using opulent fur as the ‘floor’ with two stylized mannequins wearing coats.
Prada is still displaying summer merchandise for both womenswear and accessories; the first window featured two headless translucent mannequins with a collection of shoes in a vitrine, while the next windows have handbags.
Gucci windows are showing its fall merchandise in a very ‘clean’ presentation; two mannequins and no props. The background is made of brass fittings that hang from the ceiling made to look like an ‘iron curtain.’
And the most interesting is John Galliano’s display – a mannequin made of sticks is lounging on a John Galliano chair!
