Exley S17 (31)NEW YORK, July 12, 2016/ #NYFW:Men/ — Exley, the menswear brand that exudes the new New England introduces the Spring/Summer 2017 collection as part of NYFW: Menswear with its first foray into swimwear. Remaining true to the brand ethos, the collection offers a contemporary twist on classic silhouettes, while still drawing from the New England region’s history of great menswear.

This season, head designer Annie Campbell was inspired by “Weathered New England boardwalks and coastlines that are rich in a storied, local narrative. Discovering local hidden beaches off of the beaten path, on the road less traveled. Noting every detail along the way, from ungroomed sand dunes overrun with wild flowers and vivid shade of turquoise water to the salty ocean breeze.”

The color story reflects the hues that can be seen throughout the New England coast, from rusted orange, taupe, and sand to deep blue. Fabrics offered, range from hi-tech, water-resistant bonded clothes for ultimate weather protection and multi-purposeful blends with a luxe hand and unique textures to double-faced silk/linen gauzes that evoke the ultimate summertime feel.

Standout pieces include the ‘Oversized Rain Coat,’ an update to the classic silhouette, with oversized collar and pintuck pockets in water resistant bonded cloth for added weather protection. The ‘Driver Jacket’ is Exley’s interpretation of a Harrington Jacket, a staple of a man’s wardrobe, comprised of technical blend shell cloth.

The traditional ‘Pullover’ is re-imagined as a modern-day anorak crafted in water resistant memory cloth for performance and texture, with adjustable sleeves and hem for better fit, and available in unlined water resisted treated linen option for carefree beach days.

Exley’s debut in swim this season culminates into a capsule assortment within the collection. The ‘Trouser Swim’ (in 5” and 7” inseam) is designed in a dress trouser construction, with fast drying self cloth and made to be the perfect all day short to take the wearer from beach to the boardwalk to around town. The ‘Essential Swim’ short has it all, with an easy fit, look and style for your perfect day at the beach.
