MAC_39L_PR_FW15_Man_Biker StyleTexture meets sustainability and innovation in the MAC Fall/Winter 2015-16 menswear collection. Nicknamed “the trouser specialist,” MAC is embarking on a major time travel journey. Design influences from the 14th century, such as elaborate materials and rich colors, meet functional, comfortable and futuristic details.

Current issues such as sustainability also play a major role this season. The color scheme focuses on graphite greys, deep oxblood reds and midnight blue shades. Natural hues such as forest green and earthy brown and beige, complete this season’s palette.

Rich Materials and Sophisticated Details

With this collection MAC reinterprets a medieval fairy tale in a modernized way. Like a medieval knight, the modern MAC man loves sophisticated details and rich materials like printed velvet, waffle corduroy and shiny satin denim. The unique feel of the materials is especially important this season.

MAC re-introduces the leather touch gabardine, a woven cotton that looks and feels like leather, soft to the touch and extremely pleasant on the skin. The iconic jog’n jeans made of sweat denim this season are finished with a fine coating that suggests a leather look without taking away the outstanding comfort of the sweatpants.

Corduroy and velvet fabrics remain very soft to the touch, but are quite authentic, as they aretreated as denim. Adding up to the complexity of the collection are the pocket linings in fine jacquard, paisley, brocade and tie prints.

Premium leather piping and laser perforated leather details are placed along the pockets to create tone-on-tone or contrast combinations. As for the fit, the focus is on slim silhouettes, both for chinos and cargos, and tapered jeans, with or without pleats.

Sustainable Casual-Athletic Looks and Outdoor Styles

Being in touch with nature and running an active lifestyle are the key concepts behind thesports theme. As an environmentally friendly manufacturer, MAC uses recycled denim, one-fourth of which is made with reclaimed yarns.

In addition to the eye-catching slub denim that shows irregular bumps in the structure, and oil-washed treatments that make the fabrics long-lasting, the Japan denim is woven on special looms that produce the typical grainy texture.

Sturdy and masculine on the outside, but soft and warm on the inside as a result of a roughening treatment applied on the material, the brushed denim is a genuine all year round ally. Vintage washes provide a particularly casual look on denim as well as flats: Bedford, canvas and corduroy come in many different washes and provide peculiar worn-out effects. Sophisticated details such as zips on back pockets and ethnic prints on pocket linings add up to the complex details of the collection.

Founded in 1973 and located in Wald/Rossbach, Germany, MAC is renown for its quality and innovative fits. As a trousers specialist, it sells more than 6 million pairs of trousers every year. www.mac-mode.com
