PHILADELPHIA, Mar 24, 2011/ — Moore College of Art & Design students will showcase their work at the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA), a three-week festival inspired by the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts from April 7 – May 1, 2011.

PIFA is inspired by the spirit of artistic experimentation and uninhibited creativity of Paris from 1910 – 1920 and will showcase creativity, collaboration and innovation through Philadelphia’s artistic and cultural communities.

On April 8 at 8 p.m. at the Kimmel Center, fashion design students will take part in an event celebrating Paris’ contributions to style with a runway show featuring new looks from professional and top student designers. The featured gowns will also be included in the eveningwear segment of Moore’s Spring Fashion Show on Saturday, May 14 in Aviator Park.

On April 16, Moore and the 180 Dance Company will collaborate on Symphony in White: A Portrait of Peace, a production featuring dance, fashion and fine art. The shows will be at 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm in Moore’s Stewart Auditorium. They will feature original costume designs by Moore students combined with the classical music of Daphnis et Chloe by Parisian composer Maurice Ravel.

Moore will also have an exhibition of new work by illustration and graphic design students, Art, Culture and the City of Lights, featured in the Moore College Galleries in the First Tier Promenade at the Kimmel Center from March 7 – June 1.

Inspired by the many architects, artists, designers and writers who made the city of Paris a cultural capital in the early 20th century, Moore students have created posters reflecting upon the city’s creative joie de vivre.

The Kimmel Center provides two exhibition spaces for artwork by students, alumnae and faculty of Moore College of Art & Design thanks to the generosity of an anonymous Kimmel Center donor.
