Pepa Salazar presented her SS19 collection recently at the Royal Botanical Garden in Madrid. Her proposal was inspired by the influence of the environment on the idiosyncrasy of the individual and its way of dressing. The collection, composed of 21 looks, explores the influence of our background on our idiosyncrasy and behavior and, consequently, on the way we chose how to dress.

The wrinkled fabrics create distorted pieces of clothing that evoke rustic field sacks, wrapping the body in layers and sculpting the classic warped volumes of the designer. In counterpoint, this season proposal includes light fabrics that works as glazes and provides a feeling of levity, also knit with soft viscoses and transparent garments resembling plastic texture.

The designer works with an earthy palette and different shades of white.
Ecru, vanilla and sanding tones create a rough and very natural palette with some color injections such as acid green, yellow, blue, purple and lime, used for knitwear.

The jewelry – focal point of the show, created to complement the contemporary looks of the designer – is a collaboration between Pepa Salazar and Tous.
The result of this cooperation is an exclusive reinterpretation of the iconic Tous bear, kawaii styled.

“To me the bear is an emblem of Tous and of jewelry in general, and that’s why I really wanted to create something special with it. Every spanish girl has worn the legendary Tous cute bear at some point in her life and I wanted to reinterpret it with my codes. I’m a big fan of anime, so I decided to translate the essence of kawaii culture into this jewelry piece”, explain the designer.

Pieces from HOLD, the last Tous collection, were also introduced to complete and elevate the outfits, creating multiple combinations of jewels with the mix&match of different pieces. Pepa Salazar showed the versatility of HOLD collection, creating maximalist items with an edgy touch that works as starting point for every look.
