Sally LaPointe F14 (16)“The collection is all about having a tough skin, in both the figurative and literal sense,” says Sally LaPointe, describing her Fall 2014 collection which she unveiled at the Skylight Studios on February 7, 2014 during New York Fashion Week.

Creating sleek linear silhouettes on the runway, Sally LaPointe was true to her word about having “tough skin” as she layered textured and exotic materials in every exit.

Leather, fur, skins and beaded embroideries in a crisp palette of black, white, silver, ice, cognac and ink blue were the staple of this very sophisticated collection. Exuding luxury and opulence, every piece is lovely, every item covetable.

Among the standout pieces are carefully tailored bomber jackets done in black and ivory Amazon fish skin, ivory wool and matte aluminum jacquard degrade with a customized zebra print and hand embroidered matte black and silver beading.

A collaboration with a local tattoo artist resulted in the ‘Bluebird’ print, visible on evening gowns and skirts.

To create rich color and a multi-dimensional look, the fabric was printed using a 16 step silk-screening process and then finished with a degrade wool jacquard overlay.

The ‘Bluebird’ print is also used as an accent, with several additional garments featuring hand-embroidered, beaded chiffon appliqués.
